MacWEEK Fly Haiku

Ages ago MacWEEK editors, reporters, copy editors and artists all played around with haiku. Someone would start a thread with a subject and people would contribute. I can only find one such thread remaining, which was about an infestation of tiny fruit flies in a potted plant. Here's  the thread. I've left on the sender and receiver on each submission and it reads properly from top to bottom.

Fruit flies disturb me.

Why is our sterile office

Suddenly abuzz?

Perhaps volunteers

Should dress like rotting Bosc pears

To lure them outside

Proboscises out

the flies seek a putrid nest.

Phew! These demos stink!

Fly away, you gnat!

And take your cronies with you

That fern's infested

Shame, I hang my head

Knowing my plant is to blame

I vow to spray it.

Writing late at night

the buzz of flies and Macs mix.

I rail at nature.

Flies love Mariann

As much as everyone else.

She's just so darn sweet.

Teeny, weeny flies

think our Macs are bananas.

Bugs and flies unite.

begging for their death

they taunt me as they circle

Inexplicably

they hover at my sights edge,

demanding something.
